This is a film about a boy, Satoru, who attends a poetry class at a school on an isolated mountainside and establishes himself as a poet. Before this, his domineering mother strictly prohibited him from taking part in any creative activities. On his 17th birthday, his mother gives him a memo that includes the address of his father, whom Satoru has never seen. Satoru visits the residence, but there is only an old woman there, not his father. Shocked by her words, “You can’t avoid the coming death due to your incurable disease,” Satoru encounters a weird man who makes a provocative gesture, showing his bulge. Obsessed with an inexplicable feeling, Satoru follows this man and reaches a toilet-like space. The clock of Satoru’s life suddenly starts ticking. Since then, he struggles with cruel incidents one by one, continually asking himself the reason for his artistic creation. At the same time, his hereditary disease gradually undermines his body, and he finally discovers his mother’s real nature and his own identity. On graduation day at the poetry school, Satoru reads his first poem.
